FILOMENA Y PROGNE :OVIDIO


Here I will explain story told by Ovidio in his book "Metamorfosis".
In this story,he tells the story of Filomena and her sister:Progne.
One day Progne marries Tereo,a man that seems a good persons,and who know the father of the sisters.Progne go to life with her husband,but always misses her sister,and one day Tereo decide to went to carry his wife's sister:Filomena, and and bring her to his palace where he is the king and Progne the queen.But when Tereo see Filomena,he feel a strong sexual attraction to her and when they arrives at land,he take Filomena and carry her to a house which he has in the forest,where he abuse her again and again,cutting off his tongue so he can not say anything to anyone, and locked she in the house, guarded by his slaves.Then Tereo tell to Progne that her sister is dead,and Progne makes offerings and pray without knowing falsehood.
One day the poor sister has an idea:she crochet a loom explaining what happened and sends a slave to the palace to give the loom to his sister.When Progne discovered the calumnity of her husband,she going to find her sister and brought her to the palace to plotting revenge.Between the two sister,find a very strong revenge:Progne kills her son, and cook he for Tereo, who,when had finish the banquet, asked for his son.At the moment Filomena appears,and Progne tell to Tereo that he has his son in the stomach,pulling the bloodied head of the child.Finally the two sisters are transformed in birds and Tereus in another bird that persues the sisters for the sky.
